The high blood pressure diet and exercise plan – you may have heard of this as an excellent, natural method to lower your blood pressure. Indeed it is but how do you go about implementing it? Let’s find out.

Tip 1 – Potassium

A lot of people know that you need to lower your sodium levels to lower your blood pressure. This means eating less salt. Sure, you can stop adding table salt but most of the salt we eat is actually added to packaged foods and often we don’t even realise it is there.

But what many people don’t realise is that potassium is also important. In fact, what is important when it comes to high blood pressure is your sodium to potassium ratio.

If you lower your sodium but you also inadvertently lower your potassium at the same time then there will be no effect on your blood pressure.

However, if you lower your sodium AND increase your potassium then you will enjoy twice the amount of blood pressure lowering benefit.

Tip 2 – Exercise

Exercise is very important when it come to your blood pressure but you need to look at the bigger picture to understand why.

The whole point of lowering your blood pressure in the first place is to make your cardiovascular system healthy again. The fact that your blood pressure is higher than normal means that your arterial walls are taking are beating, as are the important organs of your body such as your kidneys and your eyes.

Exercise does not just lower your blood pressure. It improves your overall cardiovascular health. It helps to get rid of sticky arterial deposits and more. The fact that your blood pressure drops is merely a confirmation that your cardiovascular health is improving.

Exercise is very beneficial. You need only do around 20 to 30 minutes worth every other day, ideally every day. It might sound like it will be difficult to fit this into your busy lifestyle but the best way is to incorporate it in a way that you will not notice e.g. to ride your bike to get places, instead of your car.

How to cure blood pressure without medicine? Is it really possible to lower your b.p. without any nasty drugs? Yes, it most certainly is! In this article, I’ll tell you the exact steps you need to take to lower your blood pressure safely and naturally.

Why The Natural Way Works

High blood pressure is a condition that has only arisen due to the way we live our lives in this modern world. Unfortunately, we all do some things to excess. Even if we are not physically overweight, our blood pressure can be giving us warning signs that we are literally damaging our body (if you have anything over 115/75 then you are literally already at an increased risk of heart attack and stroke).

Step 1 – Diet

First you need to look at your diet. Notice that I did not say that you need to go onto a diet. Instead, you need to look at areas where you can make it a bit healthier.

The key objective here is not just to reduce your b.p. It is also to improve your overall cardiovascular system including your cholesterol levels. This means you should eat more fruits, less meat (I recommend seafood), and more fibre.

You can also cheat a little by eating a few select supplements such as fish oil capsules.

Step 2 – Exercise

No, you do not need to become an Olympic athlete to reduce your blood pressure. But you do need some exercise at least every two days.

If you’re not doing this now then you need to make a change to your life. Do you really want to be unhealthy for the rest of your life?

To make this change easier, do not join a gym. The cancellation rates of gym memberships are sky high, that’s why they always try to lock you into 12 months. My advice to you: get a bike. When you ride a bike, it is so fun and it doesn’t really feel like you are doing “exercise”.

Step 3 – Get Rid Of Stress

Stress is a killer. It leads to high blood pressure. But who isn’t stressed in this modern age?

The key to getting rid of stress is not what you might think. Many people think that you should get out of a stressful situation. If it’s an abusive partner, fine. But if it’s something benign such as your regular job, then what will you do when you get a new job? The same thing will happen, right?

The answer to getting rid of stress is to look at your coworkers who never get stressed. Try to figure out what their secret is. Because some people get stressed and others don’t. Clearly, we can learn a lot from those who don’t. They have the ultimate answer, even if they don’t realise it. Try asking them for some tips on how they handle themselves.

Recently I’ve been eating a bit healthier. It’s the start of what I hope to be a successful overcoming of my addiction to food. You see, that’s what people who are overweight really have as a problem – an addiction to food. Eating lots of food becomes necessary just to feel normal in the same way that people who are addicted to cigarettes must have a ciggie regularly just to feel normal.

Tips

Anyway, here’s how I eat healthier. I remind myself that I must eat at least one of the following food groups every day:

some kind of protein, preferably fish (I like to eat cooked mackerel that comes in a tin – an easy source of omega 3 fatty acids).

some kind of fruit (smoothies are great for this).

some kind of “good” fiber like oat bran or wheat bran (good for lower cholesterol).

some kind of carbohydrate – preferable low GI.

some kind of vegetables (this is my hardest one because I simply don’t enjoy eating them, especially greens!).

Good Diets

I’m overweight and I know my diet is not good but frankly many people who don’t look overweight eat unhealthily too. They are still at some increased risk of heart attack, stroke or cancer.

The bests diet to eat is the Mediterranean Diet, The Okinawan Diet (similar but more fish) or the Raw Food Diet (all cold food, no meat).

Although I would really love to be able to eat only raw food, I can’t see myself pulling it off – the temptations of modern day foods and recipes would make it difficult to eat.

Breaking The Addiction

Like I said, being fat is being addicted to food. It’s no secret to me but to the rest of the world it seems to be. How can I overcome this addiction? That’s the million dollar question. I’d love to hear your advice

I read somewhere that you must look after your health first before anything else.

Think about it – you can improve yourself in many ways – perhaps learn self-hypnosis, NLP, learning a language, increased confidence, public speaking skills, spirituality and more.

But if you don’t have your health then all of this could potentially be a lost cause. You need health not just to survive but to get the best out of life generally.

I have a problem of general anxiety about my health and have a couple of problems anyway which I’m getting checked out – best to just speak to the doc rather than ignore them, trust me.

To your health!

I remember a few years ago when I heard on TV that stress might be linked with diseases like cancer.

At first, I scoffed at this as a media soundbite. I mean, sure, stress can make people more susceptible to things like the common cold but could it actually contribute to major diseases and conditions apart from the obvious ones like skin breakouts? I was sceptical but lately I have changed my mind.

You see, I make a little money on the side with various websites and one area that I have looked heavily into is hyperhidrosis. This is when some people have an imbalance in their bodies and they over-sweat as a result.

Then I heard that someone had cured themselves by eating the raw food diet. By taking away the stresses on the body placed on it from the typical junk that most people eat, they were able to cure themselves.

I have also noticed on message boards for various conditions such as hyperhidrosis, acid reflux and more – that the people who frequent these boards tend to be of a nervous disposition and many of them are what we might call hypochondriacs – they are overly obsessed with their health.

This rings true a little with me because I have this anxiety too and have been battling my entire life with it. And it made me wonder if my own acid reflux problem (I take daily recommendation) is actually related to my anxiety. Could this problem be a product of my own creation?

I say this because there are many conditions that medical science cannot explain. For instance, medical science cannot explain why some people sweat excessively. It cannot explain why some people get acid reflux when there does not appear to be anything physically different with them. And I’ll bet there are a whole host of other conditions that can’t be explained either.

So to come full circle, I believe that anxieties, stresses and the modern lifestyle are responsible for many of our health woes and instead of feeding them with drugs we need to go to the root of the problem. Diet is the biggest change that you can make to restore the balance.
